Not sure if the air in your home is as clean as it could be? Deciding on where to place your air purifier is more important than you think. Here are a few tips to ensure you’re getting the most out of your air.

Place your Air Purifier Closest to the Source

For best results, place your air purifier as near to the source of concern as possible. For example, this might be a smoking room, a room where pets hang out, or a workspace with strong chemical odors. Bad allergies bothering you at night? Keeping your purifier in your bedroom could really help. If the contaminants are coming from a separate room, or even a neighbor, try placing the device close to the connecting wall or air vent. Kitchens are another popular place for air purifiers due to the stubborn odors created when cooking. Placing your air purifier closest to the problem area will allow the device to trap particles quickly and eliminate contaminants more efficiently.

Prevent Interference

Electronics running on similar wavelengths as your purifier may interfere with its operation. It’s best to avoid placement near microwaves, stereos and TVs. It’s also recommended that you keep doors and windows shut. Otherwise, your purifier will expend all its energy trying to clean air coming in from outside and won’t be as effective at cleaning the air in your immediate environment.

Optimize Air Flow

So, where is the best place in the room? You don’t want your air purifier in the way of foot traffic. But you also shouldn’t keep it in a corner. Your humidifier may have an intake vent near the top or front of the device. For this reason, it’s best not to keep it blocked behind or underneath furniture. As a rule, each purifier should have about two feet of breathing space around it. By clearing the way for the device, it will filter air much more efficiently. Deciding on where to place your air purifier is vital if you want to get the cleanest air possible in your home. Remember to identify the source of the problem, give your purifier space and avoid interferences. Luckily, many models are designed with wheels, so you can easily move your purifier around and find it the best home.
